(1865-1946) Пиншо (Пинчот), ГиффордПолитический деятель, первый председатель Национальной комиссии по охране природы [National Conservation Commission]. Генеральный лесничий в 1898-1910, возглавлял подразделение лесоводства [Division of Forestry] (с 1905 - Службу леса [ Forest Service]) Министерства сельского хозяйства [ Department of Agriculture, U.S.]. Основал Национальную ассоциацию охраны природы [National Conservation Association], стоявшую у истоков природоохранного движения в США. В т.н. "деле Баллинджера-Пиншо (Пинчота)" [ Ballinger-Pinchot Controversy, the] отстаивал политику охраны природных ресурсов. Соратник Т. Рузвельта в деле создания национальных природных заповедников. Вместе с ним участвовал и в создании Прогрессивной партии Сохатого [ Bull Moose Party] (1912). Дважды избирался губернатором штата Пенсильвания (1923-27 и 1931-35).
